Excerpt: The Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) also known as the Microwave Anisotropy Probe (MAP), and Explorer 80 is a spacecraft which measures differences in the temperature of the Big Bang’s remnant radiant heat the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation across the full sky. Headed by Professor Charles L. Bennett, Johns Hopkins University, the mission was developed in a joint partnership between the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and Princeton University. The WMAP spacecraft was launched on 30 June 2001, at 19:46:46 GDT, from Florida. The WMAP mission succeeds the COBE space mission and was the second medium-class (MIDEX) spacecraft of the Explorer program. In 2003, MAP was renamed WMAP in honor of David Todd Wilkinson (19352002), who had been a member of the mission’s science team. WMAP’s measurements played the key role in establishing the current Standard Model of Cosmology. WMAP data are very well fit by a universe that is dominated by dark energy in the form of a cosmological constant. Other cosmological data are also consistent, and together tightly constrain the Model. In this Lambda-CDM model of the universe, the age of the universe is 13.75 ± 0.11 billion years. The WMAP mission’s determination of the age of the universe to better than 1% precision was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records. The current expansion rate of the universe is (see Hubble constant) of 70.5 ± 1.3 km·s·Mpc. The content of the universe presently consists of 4.56% ± 0.15% ordinary baryonic matter; 22.8% ± 1.3% Cold dark matter (CDM) that neither emits nor absorbs light; and 72.6% ± 1.5% of dark energy in the form of a cosmological constant that accelerates the expansion of the universe. Less than 1% of the current

Excerpt: Clinton Eugene “Clint” Curtis (born 1958 near Salem, Illinois) is a United States computer programmer, ex employee of NASA, ExxonMobil, etc., currently living in Northern California, who worked for Yang Enterprises (YEI) in Oviedo, Florida until February 2001. He is notable chiefly for making a series of “whistleblower” allegations about his former employer and about Republican Congressman Tom Feeney, including an allegation that in 2000, Feeney and Yang Enterprises requested Curtis’s assistance in a scheme to steal votes by inserting fraudulent code into touch screen voting systems. In 2006, Curtis ran unsuccessfully against Feeney for the United States congressional seat in Florida’s 24th congressional district. He ran again in 2008, losing in the Democratic primary to eventual winner of the seat, Suzanne Kosmas. In 2007, Curtis enrolled as a student at the Barry University School of Law in Orlando, Florida. in 2010 he is running for Congress in California In 2001, Curtis first achieved public attention for a series of allegations against his former employer, Yang Enterprises, and against Tom Feeney, who was at that time serving as a Florida state legislator and as Yang’s attorney and as Yang’s lobbyist for local governments. On May 10, 2001, shortly after leaving Yang and accepting a job with the Florida Department of Transportation, Curtis reported that Yang had overbilled the FDOT and hired an illegal alien. Approximately a year later, on April 1, 2002, Curtis and his supervisor were both fired, allegedly for violated FDOT policies. (Although Curtis’s supervisor later settled a retailiation lawsuit brought relating to her firing, Curtis reports that he did not sue because he “missed the filing deadline.”) During that same year, Curtis’s… More:

After losing his home and construction business, Chuck moves into a garage apartment. He survives by writing magazine articles, fishing, and shoplifting from the supermarket. He meets Patty, and she inspires him to complete a manuscript for a novel. Patty is killed on the day that the manuscript is accepted by a publisher, and Chuck falls into a deep depression. He spends his last dollar on a Florida lottery ticket and wins 33 million dollars. Chuck spends a fortune to promote the book, and it becomes a best seller. He then builds an energy-efficient, fortress-like home on the river, A NASA engineer, Juluis Zuks, talks him into installing a sophisticated security/function performance system in the home. Senta, from Texas, reads his book and is certain that one of the main characters in the book is her mother and that Chuck is the father she’s never known. Upon meeting, Senta and Chuck become romantically attracted and she becomes a houseguest in the new home. Julius, the NASA engineer, is mysteriously electrocuted in the swimming pool and Chuck and Senta become suspects in a homicide investigation. The security system traps Senta in the home and sets it on fire. Chuck rescues Senta and debates a voice emanating from the security system. The home is razed, and the land is exorcised by a priest. Chuck and Senta move into a newly constructed home which they believe has been “cleansed.” But has it? Find out in Paradox.

It is the early 1980s, and America is in love with space. Growing up in the shadow of Cape Canaveral, young Dolores Gray has it particularly bad: she dreams of becoming an astronaut. At school, Dolores finds herself caught between her desire for popularity and her secret friendship with the smartest and most unpopular boy in her class, whose father is NASA’s Director of Launch Safety. At home, discord begins to grow between her parents when her father’s job as a NASA technician is threatened. Looking for escape, Dolores loses herself in her scrapbook, where she files away newspaper articles about the astronauts and the shuttles, weather reports on launch scrubs, and stories about her idol, Judith Resnik. Then, on the morning of January 28, 1986, seventy-three seconds after liftoff, the space shuttle Challenger explodes, killing all seven astronauts on board — including Judith Resnik. It is a moment that shakes America to its core, and nowhere is it more deeply felt than in central Florida. Dolores becomes determined to reconstruct what went wrong, both in her parent’s marriage and at NASA, in the hope that she can save her father’s job and keep her family together. The Time It Takes to Fall is a coming-of-age novel that deftly weaves the story of one family’s drama into the larger picture of a touchstone event in American history. It is at once an intimate look at a young girl’s loss of innocence and a portrait of America’s loss of innocence — the end of an era that romanticized manned space flight and would never be the same again.
